Compatriots 13:26
So you ran out to the woods Couldn’t take the city anymore Afraid of what it had for you Afraid of what it meant to you And all you want and all you need And all you have been waiting for And all you want and all you need It’s all you been waiting for You need to hear them shout your name again You need to hear them cry for you again But you need something more than that it seems It might be the strength to carry on You might need the strength to carry on You might need the strength to carry on Carry on, Carry on Now retreat is over the time has come You’ve got to stand your ground and be the one on your own You got to put the dots together son Be strong, be a man, be a superstar ‘cause I know you can Be strong, just hang on You’ll hear them scream your name again You’ll hear them cry them for you again You’ll hear them scream your name again You’ll hear them play your songs again
2.
You get so hard When you feel it’s ending You feel nothing now You feel nothing now You feel the game’s begun You got nothing to lose Before long you’re staring at the moon So with each passing season You feel this way again You feel you can’t go on You keel! You can’t begin You don’t want to play out any days You can’t see a way out of here And the weight of the world is on your shoulders You feel you got to step up You feel you want to begin at something But you just don’t have love How do you say or how do you begin? How do you say or how do you begin?
3.
Today you came through the door again You weren’t sure just why I thought you’d be needing a second chance But it seems so hard to tell and it seems so sad But really thing it’s just a wonderful thing So I tell you now and I’ll tell you again It’s just the simple things that keep you here It’s just the simple things It’s just the simple things Don’t break my heart again Don’t break my heart again Don’t break my heart again Don’t break my heart again
4.
Singularity 08:21
You used to worry about the man on the hill You’d be ready for anything Now time has come You won’t even run You think you know better You think you’re the one You pray someone will save you Someone will come But soon enough you think you’re the one You put that little chip in your blood and it heals you from harm Connect to it and it’ll be all you want It’ll be all you want It’ll be all you want It’ll be your savior, It’ll be your guide But unlike how you have been down this path before There is no turning back it’s an open door It’s just singularity It’s just singularity
5.
This waiting around is taking me Taking me down again Taking me down this path I don’t want to go down again I just stare, stare at the walls till they all close in again And you, you make me laugh, you make blue You make me blue, you make me blue, drinking that glue Just two more months of this is all I can take Just three more months of this it’s all gonna make me wait Just four more months of this is really how long it lasts Five more months, that’s all you get
6.
So you got so much to say You stand on that box You scream your heart out You think you got it right You feel that this is it You feel you’re right But I think that there is a problem here It’s not right, It’s not right Cause I think I got it all I think I got this song The problem is still here Cause I’m not feeling it Not feeling it, the heart of the song Not feeling it, the heart of the song I’m not feeling it, the heat of the song Just not feeling it, the heart of it all

about

Parkland is a music project based around the writing and recordings of Rob Malowany. Primarily a singer/songwriter, immersion in the Vancouver creative music scene inspired Malowany to mix improv and textural exploration into his song structures. In a live setting Parkland exists in many forms, from voice with guitar and piano, to an exploratory full-spectrum band with drums, dobro, cello, piano, and bass, together with an array of noise soundscapes and unique textures.
